ELLE Belgique launched a GEM of a campaign called: “Touche Pas à Ma Pote” (Don’t touch my Girl friend) .
ELLE’s objective:
Inspire everyone to say NO to Sexism everywhere, at work, at home, on the street, in the parliament, wherever…
Launch a public awareness campaign (ex. in public transport) with the support of Ministry of Equal Opportunities of the Walloon-Brussels Federation and the Council of French-speaking Women. Joelle Milquet, minister of internal affairs and of equal opportunities, has just confirmed that she fully supports this campaign and will provide the means so it may continue.
“Why this slogan? Because it’s fun and it calls for a solidarity amongst girls.” Béa Ercolini, ELLE Belgique.
The slogan for their campaign is inspired by the anti-racist campaign “Ne Touche Pas à Mon Pote” (Don’t touch my friend), organized in the 80s by the French organization ‘SOS.Racisme’. The relation between the 2 campaigns is intentional: like so it will discourage the racists and anti-racists to further confiscate the debate (that came out of “Femme de la rue”, the now famous documentary of Sofie Peeters) and focus on the issue at hand: Sexism & Racism, it IS the same fight!
