Hollaback! Brussels is extremely angry and shocked by what Sharia4Belgium is saying about Sofie Peeters and her documentary “Femme de la rue”. Their statement is too offensive to even share here. We refuse to give them a platform to further entertain or publicize hate speech.
We call upon the Institute for the Equality of Women and Men to take immediate action.
We also remark that unfortunately it is very difficult to find out where one needs to go if one has a complaint about sexism, sexist remarks or street harassment. We urge the government, the Centre for Equal Opportunities and Opposition to Racism and Institute for the Equality of Women and Men to provide a better and more organized framework.
We would also like to stipulate again our Anti-Discrimination Policy; Hollaback! Brussels is flamboyantly anti-sexist, anti-racist, anti-homophobic, anti-classist, and anti- all the other forms of discrimination that are designed to keep people ‘in their place’. We seek to understand street harassment from every possible perspective, and seek to represent our movement with as wide and diverse a constituency as possible.
The Hollaback!Brussels Team: Angelika, Julie, Anna and Ingrid
